The African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET)

Inequality is one of the biggest challenges facing the world today, and all nations have an equal obligation to creating a more just world. The October 2012 edition of The Economist, wrote: “Growing inequality is one of the biggest social, economic and political challenges of our time.” In the last couple of years various stakeholders have been coming together to participate in various national, regional and global deliberations that will shape the post 2015 MDGs agenda. Evidently, a post 2015 framework needs to focus on equality, through promoting gender justice, progressive redistribution, structural transformation, corporate regulation, and social protection so as to make the world more equally prosperous and peaceful.

Theme: BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Development, Integration and Industrialization South Africa was the host for the fifth BRICS Summit from 26 to 27 March 2013 at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC). These summits are convened to seek common ground on areas of importance for these major economies.
